FAQs

What does GOA do?

Goats of Anarchy is a vegan farm sanctuary with a focus on goats with disabilities. We rescue and rehabilitate animals who are sick, injured, abused, blind, broken, missing limbs, or have other disabilities, and we give them a forever home.

Where did the name “Goats of Anarchy” come from?

Our founder Leanne was on a “Sons of Anarchy” kick when she welcomed her first goats! If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that many of our animals are named after characters from the show.

How is GOA funded?

We run entirely on donations — mostly small donations! For information on how to support our mission, visit the Support page.

Where are you located?

Our sanctuary is located on 30 acres in Hampton, NJ.

What kinds of disabilities do the animals have?

Many of the animals at GOA have missing or partial limbs, most often as a result of birth defects or frostbite. Those animals wear prosthetic devices to help them walk! We also have goats, with more severe mobility issues, who use wheelchairs. Additionally, we have several animals who are blind (including three horses) and some with neurological disorders.

Can I surrender an animal to you?

We receive an overwhelming amount of intake requests each day, and as much as we would like to take every animal in need, we have a limited amount of space and resources. We do, however, work hard through our Lawson’s Heart page to network for animals in need and find placement for them at other sanctuaries that we know and love. If you need help finding placement for an animal, please e-mail Leanne.

Do you allow visitors?

Beginning in April 2023, we will be offering a Visit & Volunteer experience every other Saturday. Visitors will receive an introduction to Goats of Anarchy, participate in a volunteer shift, and take a tour of our beautiful sanctuary! Spring dates will be released on Eventbrite.
