Board of Directors.

Leanne
FOUNDER, BOARD PRESIDENT

Leanne started rescuing goats in 2015, and hasn’t stopped since. A constant dreamer, she’s always thinking big and searching for ways to better the lives of as many animals as possible. Leanne has grown Goats of Anarchy from a backyard project into a 30-acre non-profit sanctuary that over 250 animals now call home. She shares her house with animals needing 24/7 care, and she also cares for each of our new babies when they arrive, performing physical therapy, giving bottles, and changing diapers until they are strong enough to move to Lawson’s Barn. Leanne’s vision and dedication have saved countless lives and given so many animals well-deserved second chances.

Arlene
ANIMAL CARE MANAGER,
BOARD TREASURER

Arlene manages the care of our Lawson’s Barn babies, Playhouse residents, and Robogoats! A mother herself, she has the caring, patient spirit that it takes to nurture our most medically challenging residents back to health. She loves going into Lawson’s Barn first thing in the morning and seeing how patiently everyone waits for their turn to get their prostheses on or get into their carts—and how playful they are once they’re up and dressed for the day. Arlene feels so at home here at Goats of Anarchy that she sold her home and moved her whole family to the sanctuary!

AngelaM.jpg

Angela
SPONSORSHIP COORDINATOR,
BOARD SECRETARY

Angela and her husband Chris visited GOA for the first time in 2016 and were surprised to find out that they loved goats just as much as their dogs and bunnies at home! They’ve been volunteering every Saturday since, mucking stalls and mentoring new volunteers. Angela created and maintains our sponsorship program, which helps ensure that every animal’s basic needs are covered each month. In 2018, Angela helped transport frostbite survivor Rosie home to GOA and fell head-over-heels in love. Years later, Angela’s favorite part of her volunteer shifts is still cuddling with “Rosie Bean” afterwards!

Jeanne2.jpg

Jeanne
VOLUNTEER NURSE,
BOARD MEMBER

A veteran nurse and dedicated animal lover, Jeanne works closely with our farm vet to ensure that all of our babies have the care they need. Jeanne comes to GOA twice a week to help administer medical treatments, provide any necessary wound care, and perform bandage changes for some of our amputees. A mother of six, she has the patience of a saint and a contagious can-do spirit. She’s popular with all the goats, but her biggest fan, Lucy, starts yelling for Jeanne as soon as her car pulls into the driveway! Jeanne is an invaluable part of our organization!

Paige.jpg

Paige
BOARD MEMBER

Paige has been part of GOA since the very beginning and has watched us grow from just over a dozen residents to more than 250 animals today. Paige is a uniquely exuberant person, and her huge, goofy personality makes her a constant source of fun and laughter! One of the things Paige loves most about Goats of Anarchy is seeing fearful animals learn to trust and open themselves up to human interaction. Paige has a special relationship with Linc, who came to us from a meat farm with a broken leg. He was terrified of people in the beginning, but now he loves to get hugs and smooches from her!

Animal Care Managers.

  • Allison

    PROJECT MANAGER

Allison works tirelessly to ensure that our animals get the care they deserve, day in and day out. She runs a tight ship and has a keen talent for identifying issues and finding creative solutions — usually before we even know that there’s a problem! Allison has been a paramedic for 33 years, and her emergency medical training and ability to stay cool under pressure have made her a valuable asset to our organization. When the day’s work is done, Allison looks forward to spoiling our guardian dogs, Luke and Leia, with treats and spending time with her best buddy Carl.

  • Ian

    ANIMAL CARE MANAGER

Ian started as a volunteer at our former off-site property “GOA2,” fell in love with a goat named Zeke, and the rest is history! Ian is a true team player and treats each and every animal at GOA as if they were his own. He always takes the time to make the animals feel seen and heard, and has even developed a not-so-secret language with Zeke called “Zeke Speak.” The best part of Ian’s work day is getting to say “good morning” to Zeke and his herd as he lets them outside for the day! He is currently pursuing a Masters in Animal Studies at NYU.

  • Mallory

ANIMAL CARE MANAGER, COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORDINATOR

Mallory works extremely hard to make sure all of our animal residents have everything they need and more! She lives on-site at the sanctuary, so she’s one of the lucky few who get to do “night checks” and tuck all the animals in for the night. Through her role as Community Relations Coordinator, Mallory also works to connect GOA with people beyond our 30-acre campus. Mallory’s favorite part of her job is snuggling with Dorothy, one of our beloved Robogoats!

  • Marnie

    EQUINE CARE MANAGER

Marnie oversees the care of our equine residents. Our horses, minis, and donkeys have challenges ranging from blindness to anxiety, and Marnie handles each animal’s care with a loving, skilled hand. She loves spending time with each of our animals, and especially looks forward to the moments in her day when Jericho or Bella come over to “supervise” the task at hand. A lifelong equestrian, Marnie grew up with horses and has been working with them since she was just 8 years old. She even cares for four of her own equines at home!

The Team.

Meet our vet.

Dr. Christina Wilson has been our veterinarian for more than half a decade. She is a fundamental part of GOA, and without her expertise, patience, and dedication, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We are so fortunate that Dr. Wilson shares our vision and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep our animals happy and healthy. She truly cares about every animal she treats, and is always willing to push boundaries and think creatively to find the best treatment plan for each patient. While her love of horses is what brought her to veterinary medicine, her wide-ranging knowledge and skills allow her to treat nearly every species at GOA with expert care. She received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree With Honors at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, and she is a member of the AAEP, the AVMA, and the AASRP.
